Rishikesh is a city located in state of Uttarakhand(which is northern state of India). Its geographical area covered around 11.5 KM square. it is also known as the ‘Gateway to the Garhwal Himalaya.
Its total population size is 102,138 (Urban Agglomeration) as per the census of 2011 and it is considered to be the amomg most populated city of Uttarakhand. But Its population rank is 7th among Uttarakhand cities. Local languages are used for communication are Hindi and sanskirit.
Lots of pilgrimage town are exist here owing to which it is consider as one of the holy place for Hindus.
Ganag river also flow in Rishikesh. The length of this pious river is 2525 Km and rises from the eastern Himalayas in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, and flows south and east.
Rishikesh was also honored as a Yoga capital of the World. Many events based on Yoga are also organise here. Lot of Ashram for Yoga and Meditation are also established.
In the year 2015, Rishikesh and Haridwar are also honoured as a “twin national heritage cities” owing to the protection of religious significance, and prohibition of non-vegetarian food and alcohol.
